preparing and caring,

Support for birth.

Birth doulas serving Kentucky families birthing in & around Lexington, Richmond, Stanford, and London.

Have birth horror stories got you worried about getting this baby out? Do you wonder if it's possible to feel less pain in labor? Would you like to fall more in love with your partner?

All of this and more is possible by adding a birth doula to your support team.

Build your birth team. Grow your family.

An increasing number of mothers choose to include doulas as part of their birthing team. It’s a smart move! Evidence says women who use doula support are “more likely to have spontaneous vaginal births and less likely to have any pain medication, epidurals, negative feelings about childbirth, vacuum or forceps-assisted births, and C-sections.”

Think of a doula as someone who is equal parts wedding planner, personal trainer, and soul sister for your birth.

In my experience, I have found that parents who are educated and informed are the most equipped to stand in their power and have a satisfying birth experience, regardless of the outcome.

Victoria Wilson CD(DONA) / Birth Doula

Like you, I am a mother. And it was during the mothering of my first child I discovered how vital support is. During my first pregnancy, I drank the birth junkie Kool-Aid and haven’t looked back.

I am a DONA International certified birth doula and have been attending births since 2016. (You can read more about my experience, and hear what my past clients have to say, on DoulaMatch.net.)

In our culture, birth is largely misunderstood and feared. As a doula and childbirth educator, my job is to demystify pregnancy and birth so that women might have a working knowledge of this beautiful process, and tools to navigate its ins and outs with confidence. My goal is for every client to be comfortable and empowered during their own birthing experiences.

My doula philosophy is:

"I believe the best doulas are students of human nature and intuitive to the needs of others. My goal as a doula is to ensure everyone on your birth team is supportive and united around your agenda and needs for birth. I am focused on your physical and emotional wellness, the physiologic needs of your labor, your dignity and respect. I find success in forging relationships between all members of the birth team in order to center care around my clients in a collaborative way. As a birth doula, I believe in my responsibility to give you the factual information I have acquired about birth and maternity care practices in our local context. I will speak with truth, honesty, and compassion as I strive to offer gracious and nuanced perspectives."

I am married to an incredibly supportive husband and mom to three spunky daughters. Professionally, I am interested in seeing maternity care options improve our community, and have been involved in the movement to license certified professional midwives and, recently, bring birth centers to Kentucky. I believe it the power of fostering relationships to positively impact the birth care team. My desire is to cultivate a thriving birth community in Central Kentucky. You can find me enjoying homemade lattes and attempting DIY projects in my Berea home.

Alli
Alli Klever / Birth Doula

Hi! My name is Alli and I am happily married with 2 daughters & 2 dogs. I have always loved pregnancy and babies, but really became passionate about birth, breastfeeding & postpartum after experiencing my own births and thinking, there has got to be a better way!

After spending years educating myself I decided to take a course and become a Doula. I am so excited to support my clients throughout their pregnancy, birth & postpartum and really be someone that brings them comfort & peace. I’ve been told I am very calming & intuitive and I’m so happy to be able to bring that into the birth space.

In my free time I love reading, baking, being in nature, listening to music and having movie nights with my family.

Chelsee
Chelsee Muncie / Birth Doula

I'm a stay-at-home momma to two girls, a hurricane of a four year old and an almost 8 month old, and two crazy golden retrievers. I didn't know much about doulas before I was pregnant with my youngest, but since meeting Victoria, I've come to love the doula world and the message and purpose of The Mother Well and can't wait to be a part of it.

In general, I'm pretty nerdy, I love to read and sing, my husband and I play D&D with friends every week and it's a blast, I'm not a very good cook but I love to bake, and I aspire to be a Pinterest-worthy crafter, but only hit the mark maybe 25% of the time.

Amanda
Amanda Lobb / Postpartum Doula

Hello! My number one goal as a postpartum doula is to encourage, educate, and support new mothers and their families to be successful at their new beginnings.

I have a well-rounded knowledge of pregnancy, postpartum and parenting. I find honor in being able to help families adjust and find their rhythm during the process of the “4th Trimester” the postpartum period. My hope is that you will be able to achieve the outcome you desire.

I have experienced the differences between a natural birth and C-sections with two breech babies and one of those a premi. Having these experiences opened my eyes to the need for education and support for families on a similar journey. That’s when I decided to become a doula.

I want to be the encourager, the extra shoulder to lean on, the extra set of hands and eyes to mothers and show them they can do this journey without question. I want to be able to keep you focused on the moments as ushering in practices and habits that encourage healthy recovery.

Kind Words From Clients

PenelopesBirth-15

Comfortable and Cared For.

My husband and I had a fantastic doula with our first daughter, so we knew that we wanted to hire one for our second. We crossed paths with Victoria pretty late in my pregnancy, but she was a tremendous help to us still. We had time for an interview, where we quickly learned we had much in common, and one prenatal visit before the baby came. During that time, she refreshed our memories about labor, birth, comfort measures, etc. She also answered any questions that I had and provided resources to help me to be equipped with the knowledge that I needed.

When I went into labor, Victoria promptly met us at the hospital. She helped provide comfort measures during contractions and encouraged me (and my husband) as I worked through each one. As contractions got more intense, she helped me to stay focused mentally so that I remained under control emotionally. This was extremely valuable to me, because I felt very out of control mentally, emotionally, and physically during the birth of my first daughter.

Victoria was a huge asset during the last part of pregnancy and the birth of my second daughter! I couldn't imagine what it would have been like if she weren't there! She helped me mentally, emotionally, and physically, and it helps that she has a genuine personality and made me feel comfortable and cared for. I would highly recommend her to anyone searching for a doula!

Hiring Victoria as our doula and our birthing class instructor (through Evidence Based Birth) was the best decision of our pregnancy. My husband and I learned so much from Victoria about comfort measures, informed consent, advocacy, and just the nutty gritty of making labor and delivery decisions based on the best evidence.

Victoria was with me at every step of the way, including the most difficult parts of the labor. I had my own personal cheerleader, advocate, and masseuse all wrapped up in one. She got along so well with the nurses and midwife that she truly brightened everyone’s day and created a calm sense of camaraderie in the birthing room.

And she stayed with me long after delivery to make sure that I was never alone when my husband had to step out and communicate with family.

Victoria also checked in with us frequently after the birth to see how parenting was going, and she still checks on us to make sure we’re all thriving. Victoria truly cares about our family and our well being, and she has the compassion and skills to make our birth a positive, beautiful experience.

Adding Victoria to our birth team was the best decision my husband and I made during this pregnancy. She supported not only me, but also my entire family with such compassion. She helped shape my labor into a healing experience by providing education, advocacy and empowerment. I am so thankful for her and the role she played.
